You will find our field next to our house on our family farm on the East side of the A1 off the B1043 (the old A1). Turn in off the road and let yourself and your vehicles in through this gate. We lock this gate every night and unlock each morning. The code you are sent is for the internal hand gate into the field.
With 4 acres of grass, your dogs will be able run in a safe secure space. With lots to sniff and explore
Enter our fully enclosed parking area with hardstanding for several cars - in the summer there is additional parking on grass for more cars. Close the gate behind you to the road and this area gives you a safe space to get your dogs in and out of your car, it also serves as a 'catch pen' for harder to catch dogs.
Our Gates are 6ft high and close to the ground. Our fencing is a combination of 6ft Deer fencing in the open areas and 4ft Stock Fencing on top of dense, impenetrable hedge that is over 6ft and about 6ft deep. We also have the entire field rabbit wired so that even the teeniest of dogs cant get through. We walk the fences daily to check them.
Our field boarders a 12 acre grass field that a few ponies graze. We've found that these have provided a wonderful opportunity for desensitisation for dogs to large animals. It doesn't matter how much your dogs bark at them, these ponies really don't care, so please don't worry.
On the other side of our fencing, there is a strand of very low voltage electric wire to keep the horses from rubbing on the fence. If you allow a child to reach through, there is a possibility of a small, non-dangerous shock. Your children are your responsibility, please make sure they don't reach through.
There is screening around the parking area to avoid dogs being able to see any other dogs.
Stock Fencing with very thick (6 ft deep) dense hedge behind it and chicken wire at the bottom of it.
5ft5 me standing in front of the thick hedge
enclosed parking area, works well as a 'catch pen' for those hard to catch dogs
Many of our doggy and human guests like to see the ponies next door. The field they're in is huge and they are rarely up by the fence, but please don't worry if your dog barks at them. They really don't care. And dogs usually ignore them after a while even if initially interested.
Horses are animals and unpredictable, they can be nosey and greedy. We ask that you do not attempt to feed them or stroke them. They can bite.
We have a tap with hose & gun in our parking area. Please feel free to wash off muddy boots or paws or fill water bowls. Please make sure you turn the tap off after use.
Please use hand sanitiser when you enter the field and comply with all current
Covid-19 guidelines.
You'll find a sturdy picnic bench. You are welcome to bring a picnic (but not BBQs) please take ALL rubbish home with you, do not use the dog poo bins.
There are three Poo Bins and Poo Bag dispensers around the field. Please use them! As well as poo being a stinky mess, it can also spread illness and worms. Please only use these bins for poo, no coffee cups
Near the parking areas you will find a water bowl and some water containers. Please feel free to fill the bowl from these. We wash the bowl daily. Fresh water is also available from the tap in the parking area.
Keep out of the wind & rain in our shelter
Table & Chairs inside too - it's not fancy.... but it does the job!
